Rocky Patel Sungrown Toro Review

Not every cigar needs to be a special occasion. Some of the best moments with a cigar happen on a Tuesday afternoon when the lawn is mowed, the day is winding down, and you don’t need anything elaborate. For those moments, you want a cigar that does its job without making demands. The Rocky Patel Sungrown Toro is that cigar for me.

Rocky Patel built his brand on accessibility — quality cigars at price points that don’t require a special event to justify. The Sungrown line, originally launched in 2003, has become a workhorse in his portfolio. It uses an Ecuadorian Sungrown wrapper, which sits between the smoothness of Connecticut and the heartiness of Habano, giving it a profile that’s friendly without being boring.

I picked up a five-pack of these recently and have been working through them on regular weekday evenings. Here’s what I’ve found.
